Just about done with this rando frame.  Here's my mock up of the front rack to locate the braze-on's 

Reaming and facing the head tube. I prefer to do this on my lathe, it's much easier, faster, and accurate. I turn the crown race on the large as well.

Rear brake bridge area, I like single arm cable hangers even though they're more labor to make properly. Added a stainless "B" to the brake bridge as well. 

Seat tube is all reamed and lug is cleaned up. Just have some finish sanding left, then off to paint. 

Overall frame with front end mocked up. This pic was taken prior to lug cleanup. 

Rando part 2

Dropouts with double eyelets added and dry fit to chain stays. 

Scallops brazed in and filed flush on top of seatstays. I prefer this classic method for finishing seatstays. 

It's starting to look like a frame. Brake bridge installed. 

Crown getting prepped. 

Now if it would just warm up I could get more done. My shop heat is having a hard time keeping up with the -25 degree weather. It was 45 in there today, I think it's time for a supplemental heat source!

at long last...

This place is finally making bikes!

853 tubeset just waiting to be a randonneuring bike.

Measuring and marking the butts on each tube to properly locate the miters.  Never trust the tube specs, my dial indicators don't lie!

Measuring and marking the bow in each tube (yes, they all have some bow).

I like to keep the bow in-plane with the frame so that it doesn't interfere with frame alignment measurement

Machining the head tube extension.  I make these myself to ensure they match the upper lug perfectly.

Shaping the headlugs.  In this case the front of the headlugs are carved to match the Mitsugi crown.

Engraving the BB shell with serial # and customer name.  I like the little touches like this to personalize the frame.

Front triangle mitered up and jigged.  Once the rest of the lugs are prepped this will be tacked in the jig and then fully brazed outside of the jig.  It's very important to get the alignment correct the first time on 853 frames (just like on stainless frames) as it's quite difficult to set the alignment after brazing.

Exterior done

The whole exterior is up, And the interior is Insulated and lined!

Week 1

Not bad for one week. The new shop has a roof, base is ready for concrete and the walls are getting framed. 

Floor is also installed upstairs. 

In more important news: ride Cayuna today for the first time. Spectacular, other than the 2 cut tires...

1 Pair of Panaracer T-serv tires, 700c x 35 mm, Brand new, never mounted.  $50/pair

 Stans's The Crow 29'er tires.  They're used but hardly.  They were stans'd so there's a little goo remnant inside but ready to rock the hardpack trails.  You'll love how fast these things climb!  $35/pair

Genetic 100mm threadless stem.  1 1/8" x 31.8 bar.  Includes shims for 26.0 bar.  Brand new in the box.  Kind of unique, give you the look of a traditional stem without a big stack of spacers.  $25

Salsa Bell lap bars.  Cross is here, you know you need 'em.  Used, 42cm $20

Mustache bars, not nitto but very similar bend and nicely finished.  They take road brake levers, the Ultegra's below would be perfect! 25.4mm stem $25

Super Rare!!!!!  Mustache bars from the Bridgestone XO-2.  These are a little different from most.  They're smaller diameter so they take mtn bike brake levers positioned on the straight ends.  25,4mm stem  $40

Race face dues polished stem.  120mm x 5 degree.  $20

turn this headset silver!

I've been meaning to post a bunch of parts here but haven't had time.  But I realized I needed a new (or used) nice silver 1" threaded headset for one of my bikes and I've got this nice 1" threadless blue King headset I'd love to trade. 

I'm looking for a good quality and nice looking silver threaded headset.  A king would be great, or a stronglight delta, or campy, whatever.  Let me know if you have anything.

Stan's no longer makes rim-brake compatible rims...  I just bought some of the last 26" rims they had and they're out of 29'er.  The world is so sad sometimes.
